Wednesday’s Wedding Spotlight: Brandon and Kelsey, May 14, 2011

16 Nov

Brandon and Kelsey - May 14, 2011

Youthful exuberance is the term that best fits the story of the wedding reception of Brandon and Kelsey.   As a couple with so much love for each other, they absolutely lit up the entire basement of Fairview at River Club.  Setting the Mood created an atmosphere similar to an Italian villa with votive candles, rustic colors, and foliage you would find in the heart of Tuscany.  Introductions of the members of the wedding party was high energy providing a little element of comic relief.  Sharon Glasgow’s crew of servers delivered generous portions of some of the best that Olive Garden provides.  The Love Story was funny and touching encapsulating the resounding love that Brandon and Kelsey have for each other.  The rest of the night was simply a celebration of love and family, and included a very special surprise Colts garter.  Thank you’s go out to the following professionals:

Monday Motivational: Integrity Tested

14 Nov

“Calamity is the test of integrity.”  -Samuel Richardson

Last week tragic and astounding events took place on the campus of Penn State University.  It my motivational today, I had to take a little detour from the wedding industry.  Please forgive me, but I felt compelled to respond.

In their denial and shock of the fall of long-time coach Joe Paterno, the students took to the streets of State College.  Initially they traveled through the streets innocently chanting and confirming their loyalty, but then the mood of the mob turned.  What resulted was an ugly display of mob mentality.

Students cheered as a news van was pushed over.  Students yelled angrily at the police who were called in to secure the mob.  It was apparent that these students acted and behaved without integrity by getting caught up in the crowd.  Here’s a view of what happened on the streets that night.

But then, there’s TJ Bard, Penn State Student Body President.

Here’s an interview with TJ from ESPN Radio.

 Well worth the listen.

Can you tell the difference in integrity?  Do you see who will serve as a model for behavior in the future?

Integrity is important.  If you don’t stand for anything, you will surely be trapped into following the mob mentality.  Be different.  Be unique.  Treat your family, friends, and the rest of humankind with integrity and happiness will come your way.

Have a great Monday, and I’ll see you for Wednesday Wedding Spotlight where I’ll feature a couple on their Fairy Tale Beginning.

Wednesday’s Wedding Showcase: Spotlight on Josh and Sarah

9 Nov

Sarah and Josh - K Pearlman Photography

Josh and Sarah knew of each other throughout their time at North Stafford High School, but never dated or pursued any kind of relationship. It wouldn’t be until their lives crossed paths again after college at a church function where Josh and Sarah “found” each other.

Josh was instantly interested in Sarah telling others, “What a Hottie!”  Sarah thought something similar describing Josh as “really goofy, but a really hot guy.”

The connection was instant.  They would date for a few weeks before Josh couldn’t take it anymore and kissed her for the first time.  Sarah was so excited over the first kiss that she even had trouble driving home.

The two would continue dating for several months, but both knew that the other was the perfect complement.  Then, Josh took Sarah to Old Mill Park for a picnic; however, when they arrived, there were no picnic items.  No food, no napkins, no blanket.  Josh picked up his guitar and began to sing.  He sang an originally composed song all about his love for Sarah.

When he ended, he asked, “Sarah, will you marry me?”

On May 21, 2011, Josh and Sarah celebrated their marriage with friends and family at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center.  After a fun Grand Entrance and a wonderful dinner catered by Sodexo Catering, I shared their Love Story.  During the story, Josh sang his song live in front of Sarah and all of the guests.

At an emotionally charged ending, Josh danced with Sarah to Feels Like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk.  It would be a night full of fun, romance, and non-stop energy.

Thanks to Karen Pearlman of K Pearlman Photography and Marian Zimmerman Flowers for adding their wonderful creativity.

Monday Motivational: It’s About Love

7 Nov

“In love, don’t choose the one you can live with; choose the one you cannot live without.” -Craig Jenkins

Yes, it is obvious: weddings are about love. But, what is the true spirit of your relationship with your partner? Is there a deep desire for each other

? Was it an instant attraction when you first met? Or perhaps the relationship is centered on a trust and bond that you found in the consistency of the friendship built over time?

Whatever the spirit of your relationship is, one thing should certain, you cannot live without him. No matter how foolish he can sometimes be. No matter how crazy he gets during football season. No matter what he puts on (or not) when sitting on your couch. You love the big lug. You know that he is perfect for you because he is your perfect complement. He treats you right, and when he does things for you, your heart melts. You can’t live without him.

And then, there you are. You are perfect for him. Guys may not say it to you all the time. Heck, they may not say it half the time, but what he means by all the actions he takes is clear. “I Love You and I cannot live without You.” He takes you for all your faults and doesn’t say a word about any of them. He trusts you incomprehensibly just because you are you. And he will go to the end of the earth and back to give you exactly what you want.

If this isn’t motivation for a great marriage, I don’t know what is.

Have a great Monday, and I’ll see you for Wednesday Wedding Spotlight where I’ll feature a couple on their Fairy Tale Beginning.
