The Interpretive Dance Intro: John and Ashley’s Wedding, Sept. 29, 2012

A FUN way to enter your wedding reception

On September 29th, 2012, I had the privilege of serving as the Wedding Entertainment Director® at John and Ashley’s wedding at The Wyndham Virginia Crossings in Richmond, VA. Like every couple I work with, their story was unique and their vision was to have a lot of fun. Ashley wanted to come into the room in a completely different way that no one had seen before and she wanted to use Calvin Harris’ “Feel So Close” as the entrance. We discussed various options from just having the song play as background to creating a whole choreographed dance routine, but what we ultimately decided was to trim the song to fit the eight couples and each couple would interpret one line from the song as they entered. We gave them no other direction besides where to come in.

Come time for the ceremony rehearsal on Friday, the bridesmaids had already planned and discussed ideas and knew their line. It was just a matter of getting the guys on board and practicing. They did. What came about was this…
