“Calamity is the test of integrity.”  -Samuel Richardson

Last week tragic and astounding events took place on the campus of Penn State University.  It my motivational today, I had to take a little detour from the wedding industry.  Please forgive me, but I felt compelled to respond.

In their denial and shock of the fall of long-time coach Joe Paterno, the students took to the streets of State College.  Initially they traveled through the streets innocently chanting and confirming their loyalty, but then the mood of the mob turned.  What resulted was an ugly display of mob mentality.

Students cheered as a news van was pushed over.  Students yelled angrily at the police who were called in to secure the mob.  It was apparent that these students acted and behaved without integrity by getting caught up in the crowd.  Here’s a view of what happened on the streets that night.

But then, there’s TJ Bard, Penn State Student Body President.

Here’s an interview with TJ from ESPN Radio. Well worth the listen.

Can you tell the difference in integrity?  Do you see who will serve as a model for behavior in the future?

Integrity is important.  If you don’t stand for anything, you will surely be trapped into following the mob mentality.  Be different.  Be unique.  Treat your family, friends, and the rest of humankind with integrity and happiness will come your way.

Have a great Monday, and I’ll see you for Wednesday Wedding Spotlight where I’ll feature a couple on their Fairy Tale Beginning.
