We all have songs that we absolutely love no matter how many times we hear them. “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince takes me back to a more innocent time in my life where I had no worries, no troubles, and life was simple. “Mo Money, Mo Problems” by Notorious B.I.G. is another one of those songs that I can listen to another 500 times and continue to dance and rap along.
However, there are also songs that you simply can’t stand to hear one more time. You’ll even probably say, “I would be happy if I never hear that song ever again.” The thing is though, your most hated song may just be the one song that gets your guests up and dancing.
So, what do we do when there are songs you’d rather not hear, but honestly they are some of the most requested songs? My approach is that I won’t touch songs that are so polarizing unless they are specifically requested and approve by you. Remember that the most important list in you music selection is the DO NOT PLAY list.
Here are 7 of these polarizing songs. Let’s call them the “Dirty 7”:
“Macarena” by Los Del Rio
“Cha Cha Slide” by DJ Casper
“Chicken Dance” by The Emeralds
“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen
“YMCA” by The Village People
“Celebration” by Kool and The Gang
“We Are Family” by Sister Sledge
“I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas
What do you think about the list? What songs would you add or delete from this list? Comment below. I’d love to hear what you think are some of the songs you think should rarely ever be played at a wedding.
